When to take Cymbalta
Cymbalta is prescribed for acute and regular treatment of serious depressive disorder (MDD). In three out of six trials (performed before the release of the medication), Duloxetine performed better than placebo.
Comparing Cymbalta with some usual SSRI medication, Cymbalta ended up to be less effective than these. Directly comparing Cymbalta with Lexapro in a series of clinical trials concluded Cymbalta to be less tolerable and effective in the same time.
Cymbalta can also be taken for acute treatment of generalized anxiety disorder, which is defined as worry feelings, continuously running for at least half a year.
Duloxetine is prescribed for treating stress urinary incontinence (SUI) since 1998. Between 2005-2008, 2 medical institutions, Cochrane Collaboration and University of Minnesota, after intensive testing, concluded that Cymbalta cures SUI as good as placebo.
As a last tip, do not start a new Cymbalta treatment without consulting a doctor.
